This page explains the information usern.me collects for username reservations. Have it reviewed before a significant public launch.
When you reserve a username, you give us an email address. We use it to send one verification message and to limit each email address to one verified username. The message contains a one-time link that expires after 30 minutes. We do not ask for a password.
Your email address is not shown on public username pages.
Abuse prevention
Claims pass a bot check before they are accepted. Short-lived rate limits apply to username checks and claim attempts. Raw IP addresses are not stored for analytics.
Hosting
The service that hosts usern.me processes request data in order to deliver the site. This version does not add an advertising or analytics script.
Retention
An unverified reservation expires after 30 minutes and can be removed. Verified reservations are kept so the username stays claimed. Reservations can be removed for abuse or legal reasons.
